Financing Your Custom Home

Need a lender for your new home build?

Building a custom home is a little different from purchasing an existing home—and financing it can be, too.

Most custom home projects are financed with a construction loan or construction-to-permanent loan. Because these loans involve financing a home while it’s being built, it can be helpful to work with a lender who understands the construction process.

At Southern Craft, we’re happy to work with the lender you already know and trust. If you don’t have one yet, we can also point you toward banks and lenders our team and our clients have worked with on previous projects.

Lenders We’ve Worked With

Already Have a Banker? Great.

You are not required to use one of the lenders listed above to build with Southern Craft.

If you already have a relationship with a bank, credit union, mortgage lender, or local banker you trust, we're happy to work with them.

Our role is to provide the documentation and information your lender needs from the builder throughout construction and to work with their draw and inspection requirements as your home takes shape.

What Your Lender May Need From Southern Craft

Every lender has its own process, but construction lenders commonly request information from the builder such as:

  • Construction contract

  • Detailed project estimate or cost breakdown

  • Construction timeline

  • Builder's license and insurance information

  • Plans and specifications

  • Draw schedule

  • Other project documentation required for underwriting

We'll work with you and your lender to provide the appropriate builder documentation for your project.

Not Sure Where to Start?

You don't need to have every detail figured out before talking with us.

If you're considering building a custom home, Southern Craft can help you understand the construction side of the process, develop a realistic project scope and budget, and coordinate with your lender as you move toward construction. We can even put you in contact with one of the lenders we’ve worked with before.

Have a lender already? Bring them along. Need one? We're happy to share the contacts we've worked with before.
